Stand Alone Power Systems

At Stand-Alone Power Systems, we’ve spent almost two decades helping Queenslanders and Australians take control of their energy. Whether you’re building a new home in the bush, living on a rural property, or managing a remote agricultural site, we design and install off-grid solar systems that are built to last.

We don’t do cookie-cutter solar kits. Every system we install is custom-designed, based on your daily energy use, location, appliances, and long-term goals. If you’re serious about energy independence — and want to minimise or eliminate grid and/or generator use — you’re in the right place.

Distinguished and Famous people from Broken Hill Silver City

The Silver City's history includes extracting ore, painting the people and country, and repairing damaged landscapes. These lives show different responses to the same mining centre and its surrounding environment.

⛏️ Charles Rasp

Charles Rasp's association with Broken Hill began as a boundary rider on nearby Mount Gipps station. In 1883 he pegged a claim on the prominent outcrop, believing it contained tin. Further work revealed rich silver ore, and the syndicate's venture became the Broken Hill Proprietary Company in 1885. He later lived in Adelaide. His place in the Silver City's story is as an early claimant and syndicate member whose actions helped launch its mining industry.

🎨 Pro Hart

Pro Hart combined a Broken Hill mining background with a prolific artistic life. Born in the city in 1928, he grew up on a sheep station and later worked underground before his painting career expanded. Mine workers, local characters and outback settings supplied material for his pictures. He also sculpted and maintained a gallery in Broken Hill. His continuing home there made the city a working base through a career that reached a much wider audience.

🌿 Albert and Margaret Morris

Albert Morris, a metallurgist and self-taught botanist, worked with his wife Margaret to restore vegetation around Broken Hill. Mining, woodcutting and grazing had stripped much of the surrounding country, contributing to severe dust problems. In the 1930s they helped establish fenced reserves that allowed native vegetation to recover, with an early planting area demonstrating what could be achieved. Margaret continued the work after Albert died in 1939. The resulting green belt improved conditions for residents as well as wildlife. Their legacy is a practical response to the environmental damage surrounding the Silver City.
